Production Superintendent / Production Manager
Location: Berlin, NJ Job Type: Full-Time Work Model: Onsite
The Production Superintendent / Production Manager is responsible for leading manufacturing operations, finished product quality, raw material management, workforce development, and continuous improvement initiatives within a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This leadership role oversees production supervisors, engineers, process technicians, and a large hourly workforce while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations aligned with company performance goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong manufacturing leadership experience, operational problem-solving skills, Lean manufacturing expertise, and the ability to drive accountability and operational excellence within a high-volume industrial production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Operations Leadership
- Lead manufacturing operations for a single-line 24/7 production environment
- Oversee product manufacturing, finished product quality, raw material management, production workforce performance
- Ensure production goals, quality standards, and operational targets are achieved
- Support facility operations and plant leadership initiatives
Team Leadership & Workforce Development
- Lead and develop production supervisors, engineers, process engineering technicians, hourly manufacturing workforce
- Manage staffing, performance evaluations, pay reviews, hiring, and corrective actions
- Develop workforce training and skill development plans
- Foster accountability, engagement, and operational discipline across production teams
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Drive Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
- Analyze KPIs and operational performance metrics
- Improve productivity, material usage, machine uptime, cost control, process efficiency
- Lead structured problem-solving and corrective action initiatives
Production Planning & Compliance
- Plan and schedule manufacturing activities for maximum productivity
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, company operational policies
- Maintain product quality standards and operational consistency
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with plant leadership, process engineering, manufacturing engineering, technical teams
- Balance production execution with process optimization initiatives
- Support plant-wide operational improvement strategies
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of operational leadership experience within manufacturing environment
- Experience leading manufacturing operations within 24/7 production environments
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience
- Experience managing large hourly production teams
- Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs, continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, 5S methodologies, operational troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Strong communication, accountability, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within building materials or industrial manufacturing environments
- Experience leading production ramp-up or operational transformation initiatives
- Strong process optimization and workforce development background
- Experience partnering closely with engineering and technical teams
