Job Summary:
The Paint Shop Leadman in a manufacturing setting oversees painting operations, ensuring high-quality finishes, adherence to production schedules, and compliance with safety standards. This role involves supervising a team of painters and technicians, managing materials, and maintaining equipment to support efficient workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and Coordinate : Oversee daily painting operations, ensuring production goals and quality standards are met.
- Assign Tasks & Lead Team : Distribute work assignments, train employees, and monitor performance to ensure efficiency.
- Quality Control : Inspect surfaces before and after painting, ensuring proper application and adherence to specifications.
- Surface Preparation : Ensure materials are properly prepped, including sanding, priming, and masking, for optimal paint adhesion.
- Paint Application : Oversee the correct preparation and application of paints, coatings, and finishes according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Equipment Maintenance : Maintain powder coating guns, booths, and other painting equipment, ensuring proper function and minimizing downtime.
- Safety Compliance : Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols, ensuring the Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used, and handling of hazardous materials.
- Process Improvement : Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance finish quality.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain accurate records of completed work and material usage.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in industrial painting within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of various painting techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and complete work orders, and technical specifications.
- Understanding of safety regulations and hazardous material handling.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy materials for extended periods.
