Support Technician

Purpose of the Job:

The Support Technician assists the Production Managers, Production Director, and Production Pastor in cultivating a life giving, passionate, and distraction free worship environment through supporting the operations, training, repairs, and maintenance of technologies including audio, video, lighting, and IT systems with Church of the Highlands (“Highlands”) full and part-time (“Team”), Highlands Volunteers/Dream Team (“Dream Team”) allowing people experience the presence of God.

Experience and Knowledge Required:

• Associate degree or equivalent in the field of electronics, communications, media, production, music, and management

• 2 years of experience in AV broadcast, music, or a live show environment

• The ability to operate medium+ sized AV systems with sensitivity to both musical and ministry excellence

• The ability to function at a high level of effectiveness and remain calm and respectful in stressful situations

• Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills with relational leadership and team-building skills required

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Campus end-user service support using an on-call/always-available system of help for the operations, repairs, troubleshooting, training, and maintenance of Highlands Production and Worship technologies

• Assist with the research, design, and implementation of AVL Systems at Highlands facilities across a range of project scopes, including: full campus design, construction integration, one-off repairs and upgrades, and portable live gear configurations.

• Build healthy relationships and culture within the Production Team, valuing people, relationship, and honesty over process

• Create and maintain a technology education system for both in-person and online experiences that will create a safe environment where we can learn and develop skills used for services

• Development of training materials to equip campus service teams with the knowledge of the technology used for services

• Contribute to vendor planning and negotiations for service technology, integrations, and product selection

• Support the management and prioritization of Production, audio, video, lighting, and service technology systems of Highlands

• Contribute, assess, and plan the anticipated Production needs

• Personal initiative and resourcefulness; ability to act and resolve needs independently delivering excellence with limited management direction

• Create a system of leadership development to cultivate and train potential Team and Dream Team leaders for Central Production future roles and support.

• Attend all Central scheduled meeting, trainings, and All Staff events

• Assist in all central operations, events, functions, and logistics

• Build and maintain relationships with other departments and ministry partners of Highlands

• Support the other Highlands ministry areas such as Highlands College, Highlands Resources and ARC

• Represent Highlands at ministry roundtables, conferences, and events

• Lead or co-lead a small group

• Other duties as assigned
