Event Production Assistant

The Event Production Assistant will provide temporary assistance to the Vermont Public Events team at outreach and produced events. The Events Production Assistant will also act as a brand ambassador representing our mission and values, promoting our programming, and ensuring a positive experience for all guests.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Day prior and day of event production assistance which includes setup, breakdown, guest registration and check in, catering coordination, etc.
  • Staff Vermont Public tables at community events
  • Act as a frontline representative of Vermont Public at events, welcoming attendees and ensuring a positive and inclusive participant experience.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for the organization, answering questions and promoting our mission, values, and content and events programming.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

0-2 years of experience providing events production support and exceptional customer service. Must have valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation. Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of diplomacy and professionalism. Solid verbal and written communications skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrable passion for public media, community building, and event management. Must hold a valid driver's license and passport to travel to various event sites.

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise levels (computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in the normal performance of job duties. Working conditions may vary at event sites. Hours are Monday-Friday during the day, although a flexible schedule is required to support meetings and events which may occur outside normal business hours such as nights and weekends. Some travel is required to facilitate events in VT, NH, and QC.

Physical Demands

Work involves standing and walking for long periods, bending, and filing, as most duties are from a standing position. Events may require longer periods of standing, walking and lifting/carrying loads up to 30 pounds. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials on a computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods, and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level.
