Description

The City of Lake Forest is seeking a professional, energetic, and service-minded Fitness Manager to help oversee daily fitness center operations, support staff, and create a positive experience for members and guests.

This role plays an important part in keeping the fitness center safe, clean, organized, and welcoming. The Fitness Manager helps supervise front desk staff, personal trainers, and instructors, while also supporting member service, facility operations, fitness programming, and day-to-day administrative needs.

Examples of Duties

• Support daily fitness center operations and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for members and guests
• Supervise and support fitness front desk staff, personal trainers, and instructors as assigned
• Monitor the fitness floor, equipment use, member safety, and overall facility readiness
• Assist with staff scheduling, training, communication, and performance feedback
• Respond to member questions, concerns, incidents, and emergencies in a professional and timely manner
• Help maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper care of fitness areas and equipment
• Support fitness programs, special events, promotions, and member engagement efforts
• Complete administrative tasks such as reports, attendance tracking, and incident documentation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• College degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, or a related field preferred
• Previous experience in a fitness center, recreation facility, customer service, or wellness environment preferred
• Supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred

• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, member-focused environment
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain upon hire
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and actively monitor fitness areas for extended periods

Full Benefits Package

• Full salary range: $22 to $25/hour, average 25 hours/week
• Leave: Vacation and sick time
