Registered Echo-Vascular Sonographer

Overview "Requisition #:665912 Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Lutherville, MD" Position: Registered Echo-Vascular Sonographer The Registered Echo-Vascular Sonographer performs a comprehensive range of cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations in clinical settings across multiple locations in accordance with departmental policies and IAC accreditation standards. Examinations may include cerebrovascular, visceral, lower extremity, and physiologic studies, as well as special procedures including but not limited to lower extremity reflux exams and other emerging clinical needs. Reports to the Chief Cardiac Sonographer and works closely with Staff Sonographers (Level II and III), Medical Staff, and Investigators to ensure examinations are completed according to established policies and procedures. The role operates at an advanced clinical level in both echocardiography and vascular imaging and includes participation in quality improvement initiatives, accreditation support activities, clinical training of new staff, cross-training of current Echo Lab Sonographers, and workflow coordination as assigned. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations in clinical settings per departmental policies and IAC accreditation standards. Conduct examinations across multiple locations, including Cerebrovascular, Visceral, Lower Extremity, and Physiologic studies; perform special procedures such as Lower Extremity Reflux exams and other emerging clinical needs. Collaborate with the Chief Cardiac Sonographer, Staff Sonographers (Level II and III), Medical Staff, and Investigators to ensure timely and accurate study completion. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, accreditation support activities, and clinical training of new staff. Assist with cross-training of Echo Lab Sonographers and coordinate workflow as assigned. Education B.S. in Diagnostic Ultrasound preferred or graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)–accredited Diagnostic ultrasound program, along with 3-5 years of experience as a registered echo-vascular sonographer. Additional clinical experience or credentials may be considered in lieu of some education. Licensure/Certification Required: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by CCI. Also required: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by ARDMS or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) by CCI. Work Experience Requires 3-5 years of clinical scanning experience as a Registered Cardiac and Vascular Sonographer in a hospital or clinic-based environment. Successful completion of a CAAHEP‑accredited Diagnostic program required. Additional education or credentials may be considered in lieu of some clinical experience. Prefer at least one year of experience in an Echo/Vascular role. Salary Salary Range: Minimum 48.40/hour - Maximum 79.92/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
