Nurse Practitioner - Med Group (Non Urgent Care)

Overview Provides care to patients in collaboration with physicians in the clinic and/or hospital following established standards and practices. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public. Responsibilities Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients. Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed. Performs physical exams of patients and records findings. Collaborates with physicians in managing medical needs of patients. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Administers medications and injections. Interviews and advises patients regarding health maintenance. Recommends community resources to meet patient needs. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education. Maintains and reviews patients records, charts, and other pertinent information. Reviews tests and examination results. Consults with supervising physician as appropriate. Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation. Manages medical emergencies. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Maintains patient confidentiality. Completes encounter form to ensure accurate billing. Attends meetings and participates in committees as requested. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Performs related work as required. Qualifications An Advanced Practice Provider is Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant that is licensed healthcare provider who works in collaboration with a physician to provide care to patients. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in taking medical history to assess medical condition and interpret findings. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.
