This position is responsible for operating CNC burning machines to complete customer orders. In addition, the Operator is responsible for performing skilled work in the burn department by setting, operating and maintaining machinery.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions, unless such accommodation would cause undue hardship.Plasma or Oxygen gas to cut steel to customer specifications, utilizing CNC controlledmachinesRead, interpret and clearly understand work order specifications and set upmachines to produce material that meets quality and customer expectationsSet up machines to optimize production efficiency and material yield without sacrificingqualityFlame cutting procedure oxygen and gas operation from 1 3/8” to 10” thick materialCNC controlled plasma machine operation material from 1/8” to 1 1/4” thick materialInspect material grade using color coding systemTake direction and guidance from Supervisors and Shift Leads; follow cutting practicesand safe machine operationEnsure cut quality and tolerances using a tape measureOperate basic measuring equipment (tape measure and calipers)Troubleshoot equipment and make basic adjustmentsSafely operate material handling equipment (forklift & overhead crane)Record and perform all Pre and Post shift preventative maintenance proceduresMaintain and keep cutting surface in good orderFollow all safety rules and practicesOther duties and responsibilities assignedPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Qualifications and RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED; certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant disciplineis a plusPrior cutting machine (plasma, laser, or oxy) experience is helpfulMechanical aptitude and quality workmanshipAbility to read a tape measureStrong work ethic and punctualityGood communication with other team membersAbility to work overtime, at times on short notice1-3 years’ experience of operating basic CNC MachineryWork Environment and Physical DemandsThis position operates in a manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to noise, chemicals, and materials consistent with a manufacturing environment is constant.
