Mental Health Technician - Overnight

The Mental Health Technician position provides a vital support services to the Treatment Team by monitoring the patients' safety, interacting with the patients, and providing documentation on patient activities.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Monitors patient activities for health and safety and for compliance with weekly activities. Redirects patients to the policies of the facility.
2. Conducts safety checks on all patients throughout the shift. Reports any abnormalities immediately.
3. Participates in the admission process. Completes required paperwork.
4. Completes patient assessments and analysis as required.
5. Obtain and enter biometrics on all patients. Documents the results in electronic medical records and reports any concerns or abnormalities to the medical staff.
6. Conducts searches as needed on personal belongings, rooms, and vehicles.
7. Administers testing for drug, alcohol, and tobacco usage.
8. Communicates significant events or information to the Treatment Team. Documents critical information in patient records, and completes Accident/Incident Reports as needed.
9. Provides transportation services for patients with off campus pre-approved appointments.
10. Checks patients in and out who have been approved for passes and therapeutic leave.
11. Attends and participates in shift change meetings, required staff training, patient groups, and unit meetings.
12. Responds to emergency situations per protocol.

Requirements

At least 21 years of age with a good driving record. Working knowledge of the mental health field and addiction related issues are preferred. Basic computer skills including data entry skills, working knowledge of word processing, and email.
