Mortgage Lending Officer SAFE Act - HUNTINGTON PARK

About the Role The Mortgage Lending Officer role is a developing professional position focused on identifying policy, applying specialty knowledge, and monitoring data to support the Retail Mortgage business. The officer works closely with retail branch partners, operations, and community development officers to originate high‑quality residential real‑estate loans and drive mortgage sales through client engagement. Key Responsibilities Consult with customers about their financial situation, objectives, and lending needs to help achieve home‑ownership goals. Collect and analyze information regarding customers’ income, assets, debts, cash flow, credit history, and risk tolerance. Conduct initial assessments to determine whether the customer and property qualify for a particular lending solution. Recommend lending solutions that best meet customers’ goals and advise them on the risks and benefits of alternatives. Promote Citi’s brand and lending solutions to real‑estate agencies, builders, and other referral sources. Meet customers outside Citi’s offices as needed, adapting visits to clientele, geography, and market conditions. Collaborate with internal partners to support and grow the customer base. Refer customers requiring non‑lending services to appropriate Citi professionals. Work with Operations, Processors, and Underwriters to ensure seamless loan transfer and timely closing. Develop and maintain key referral relationships (realtors, CPAs, builders, etc.) to drive mortgage business. Introduce clients to relevant segments within Citi (Bank, Wealth Management, Small Business, Cards, etc.). Stay informed on local market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments, expanding networks to better serve clients. Assess risk in business decisions, uphold Citi’s reputation, enforce compliance with laws and policies, and manage control issues with transparency. Qualifications 2–5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of mortgage sales experience. Residential mortgage experience and an established book of business. Proven product sales capability. Experience with FHA/VA and conventional loans is preferred. Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations, pricing alternatives, and required documentation. Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations (fair lending, privacy, RESPA). Demonstrated customer‑service and relationship‑building skills. Strong understanding of general lending products and the mortgage industry. Ability to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry ("Registry") and obtain a unique identifier before engaging in mortgage lending activities.
