Entry Level Machinist / CNC Machine OperatorThis entry-level CNC Machine Operator role focuses on keeping CNC machines running efficiently, performing basic part handling, and conducting accurate quality checks using precision measuring tools. You will start by monitoring machines, removing completed parts, and verifying dimensions, with a clear path to grow into performing your own machine setups and offsets as you gain experience and confidence.ResponsibilitiesMonitor CNC machines during operation to ensure they continue running safely and efficiently.Remove finished parts from CNC machines and handle them carefully to avoid damage.Perform quality checks on parts using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to confirm they meet required specifications.Use basic shop math and decimals to verify measurements and interpret results accurately.Read and interpret basic blueprints to understand part requirements and critical dimensions.Report any issues with machine performance, part quality, or measurement results to the appropriate team members promptly.Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient machining operations.Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines while working on the plant floor.Develop skills over time to perform basic machine setups and offsets under guidance from experienced machinists.Collaborate with teammates and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain high quality standards.Essential SkillsAt least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment on a plant floor.Mechanical aptitude, including experience working with hands, power tools, and hand tools.Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints.Proficiency with basic shop math and decimals.Ability to use micrometers and calipers for precise measurement.Comfort working in a machining environment with production equipment.Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift, or weekend shifts, as assigned.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in machining or operating CNC equipment is beneficial but not required for entry-level candidates.Strong attention to detail when performing measurements and quality checks.Reliability and consistency in attendance and punctuality for shift-based work.Ability to learn new processes, tools, and machine operations over time.Good communication skills to work effectively with supervisors and team members.Why Work Here?You will join a large, established machine shop that offers multiple shift options and clear opportunities to build a long-term skilled trade career. The facility produces parts of various sizes, ranging from a few pounds to up to 10 tons, providing exposure to diverse machining operations. Available schedules include 2nd shift (4x10s, Monday through Thursday, approximately 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.), 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday), weekend 3rd shift (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 11:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m.), and weekend 2nd shift (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.). Training will likely take place on 1st shift for 4 to 6 weeks before transitioning to the assigned shift. The workplace offers shift premiums for non-day shifts, including additional hourly pay for 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts. You will work on the plant floor around CNC machines and other machining equipment in an industrial environment, following standard safety practices and wearing appropriate industrial work attire and protective equipment as required.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Manitowoc, WI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
