Job Title Staff Nurse Per Diem – UCHC Midstate Correction Facility Location Midstate Correctional Facility, Wrightstown, NJ Posting Summary Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Midstate Correctional Facility. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus for inmates in the New Jersey Department of Corrections. Responsibilities Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of resident‑patients, including adolescents (13‑17 years), adults (18‑64 years) and their families within the correctional system framework. Perform assessments of resident‑patients in various settings such as initial intake area, health care unit for sick call, emergency situations in housing, chronic care clinics and infirmary. Work collaboratively with health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Identify inmate‑centered goals and nursing objectives and implement prescribed interventions and solutions for identified problems. Plan nursing care based on assessment findings; make appropriate, timely referrals and initiate nursing care per institutional policies and procedures. As team leader or charge nurse, delegate duties to other health care team members, guiding provision of care. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Valid license to practice nursing in the State of New Jersey. CPR certification (required). Valid driver’s license and own vehicle or alternative means of transportation to and from the facility. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. At least one year of experience in a correctional setting. Salary & Benefits Salary: $59.01 per hour.
