Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) Position Overview Join our team as a Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Stem Cell Transplant Clinic. This role involves providing specialized care to patients undergoing stem cell transplants, requiring a dynamic skill set and a commitment to patient well-being. Experience / Must-Have Skills
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Minimum 1 year of stem cell transplant experience
- Strong IV insertion skills
- Experience with sterile central line dressing changes
- Strong patient assessment skills
- Proficiency in accessing central lines and ports
- Experience in providing nurse-driven supportive care
- Number of chairs: 6
- Patient ratios: Acuity-based, typically 1 RN to 3-4 patients
- Typical staffing of 2 RNs plus 1 Charge Nurse when adequately staffed
- Charge Nurse present each shift
- BLS certification
- Chemotherapy certification
- EPIC electronic medical record system
- Omnicell medication dispensing system
- Alaris IV pumps
- Post stem cell transplant (both allogeneic and autologous)
- CAR-T patients
- Myeloablation/conditioning care
- Heavy electrolyte replacement post-transplant
- IVIG treatments
- Pentamidine administration
- Infection workups
- Masks must be worn by nurses
- Awareness and adherence to neutropenic precautions are required
- Chemotherapy
- Immunologics
- Biologics
- Blood products
- Hydration fluids
- IV antibiotics
- Electrolyte replacement
- PJP medications
- Vaccines
- Subcutaneous and intramuscular medications
- Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Commitment of 3 shifts per week
- No self-scheduling; the manager will create the schedule
- Flexibility is required
- Occasional weekends required, typically 1-2 Saturdays and 1 Sunday per month
- Unit operates on all holidays, with attempts to avoid holiday scheduling when possible
- Free parking available on site
- Mandatory masking during cold and flu season
- Staff would initiate BLS in an emergency until patient transfer
