Quality Assurance Technician

Description SUMMARY The Quality Assurance Technician supports the company's quality management system by maintaining quality records, investigating quality concerns, supporting ISO compliance activities, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives. This position works closely with Production, Engineering, and Management to ensure products meet customer requirements and quality standards. The Quality Assurance Technician will receive hands‑on training and mentorship from the current Quality Manager to develop a thorough understanding of the company's quality systems, processes, customer requirements, auditing activities, and manufacturing operations. The position is expected to progressively assume greater responsibility in support of quality management and continuous improvement efforts. HOURS The preferred hours for the Quality Technician are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the actual start and end time each day being negotiable, Monday through Friday. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain quality records, logs, reports, and documentation, including nonconformance reports (Pink Sheets), RMAs, inspection records, training records, and quality metrics. Assist with the investigation of product defects, customer complaints, and quality concerns to identify root causes and support corrective actions. Complete the revision, distribution, and control of work instructions, procedures, forms, and other quality documents – and support Engineering in the development of work instructions. Maintain document control and record retention processes in accordance with company and ISO requirements. Assist with internal audits, corrective action tracking, and other quality management system activities. Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Management to identify opportunities for quality improvement and defect prevention. Assist with customer quality inquiries and support the resolution of product, documentation, and process quality-related concerns. Develop and maintain visual quality standards, inspection criteria, and quality reference materials. Assist with employee training related to quality procedures, inspection requirements, work instructions, and quality best practices. Monitor quality performance trends and prepare reports to support continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on reducing defects, improving processes, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Work closely with the leadership team to develop knowledge of quality systems, auditing practices, customer requirements, and manufacturing processes. Perform other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Coatings/vacuum metallizing / PVD experience – preferred. Statistical Process Control experience – preferred. Strong organizational, documentation, and record‑keeping skills. The ability to create process flows and procedures. Experience in auditing processes and managing third‑party audits. The ability to read product drawings and understand technical specifications/requirements. Experience with the implementation and maintenance of ISO9001 compliance systems. This position requires access to export‑controlled information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
