Senior TellerThe Senior Teller is responsible for the supervision of the teller area. The Senior Teller performs all teller functions as well as solving problems and helping with complex work-related matters. The Senior Teller guides and advises tellers in the efficient handling of customer needs.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Supervise the activities of the teller operations area by assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, helping with complex transactions and sensitive member relations problems, explaining policies and procedures to staff, and providing assistance to the teller staff when needed.Approve transactions that are an exception to the bank's policy or transactions that require a supervisor override.Serve as vault teller, which includes ordering the cash from the Federal Reserve, verifying cash received, filling teller cash orders, maintaining full vault security and balancing vault cash daily.Research teller losses and assist in documenting unacceptable out of balance conditionsAssist Branch Manager/Branch Operations Manager in the annual appraisal of job performance of teller staff. Participate in teller disciplinary actions as needed.Oversee work schedules of reporting tellersMonitor the inventory of supplies in the teller area including money orders and official checksPerform routine transactionsOversee operational maintenance and procedural balancing of the ATMActs as a back up to the new accounts deskCompetenciesExcellent customer service skills, attentiveness, information retention, tact and diplomacy in dealing with both customers and employees.Mathematical skills.Strong communication & organizational skills.Detail oriented, high degree of accuracy.Competence with computers, telephone, 10-key calculator and other office machinery.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & under pressure as needed.The ability to make sound decisions. This may include making on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; weighing customer satisfaction issues with the Bank's exposure to loss or fraud and the ability to think through and rationalize decisions.Work environmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Physical demandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; and stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Travel requiredTravel within 50 miles from your assigned location may be necessary on occasion.Required education and experienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required.Minimum of three years of experience in the teller and/or customer service area of a financial institutionPreferred education and experiencePrior supervisory experience preferredGood credit is a must. Credit report is required for employment.
