Emergency Department Director
Endless skies and wide-open spaces...
About the Community The Great Plains, USA Where are the Great Plains? Located in the central portion of the United States and Canada, they extend eastward from the Rocky Mountains and are said to end when reaching the Appalachian Plateau. Longitudinally, the Great Plains extend from Texas to Canada. This vast area was best known for their farming and ranching in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In the mid-1800s, many settlers were attracted to the region to begin a new life on land that was essentially distributed free-of-charge. The Great Plains are notorious for the wide open skies and views for miles, which are just two characteristics that make the Great Plains such a unique place to visit. Made up of mostly prairies and grasslands, this destination has been an epicenter of Native American culture for decades.
