CVTC Offers: A welcoming and inclusive workplace that prioritizes each staff members’ professional development, health, and overall well-being. This is an on-call, 0-36 hours per week position, free training and educational opportunities, that includes learning the Ahtna language and culture.

Who We Are Seeking
We are seeking a caring, adaptable, and student-centered educator who is passionate about creating a positive and supportive learning environment for Ya Ne Dah Ah students. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with students in a multi-age setting, able to confidently step into different classroom environments, and committed to supporting each student’s intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological growth. We are looking for someone who values collaboration, respects diverse backgrounds and perspectives, and brings patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm to the classroom. A willingness to learn and participate in Ahtna language and cultural activities is highly valued, as is a genuine commitment to the mission of helping our citizens and community thrive.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:
• A minimum of 6 to 12 months of relevant experience as a substitute teacher, tutor and/or camp counselor is preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills; including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team.
• Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet sometimes competing deadlines.
• Superb verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software.

Certificates and Licenses: A valid Alaska Driver’s license and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy is a requirement of this position.

Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check: This position requires you to complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.

Hiring Preferences: As allowed in P.L. 93-638, preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian peoples. CVTC also applies family and local hiring preferences.
