Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for preparing equipment, instruments, and supplies during surgical procedures while maintaining the sterile field. This role requires a thorough understanding of surgical procedures to anticipate and meet the needs of the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in ensuring efficient and safe surgical operations. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and organize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to surgery.
• Maintain and protect the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by understanding the surgical procedure being performed.
• Assist in passing instruments and supplies to the surgical team as required.
• Ensure all surgical equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions.
• Document surgical procedures and maintain accurate records in electronic medical systems.
• Comply with all hospital policies, safety regulations, and infection control standards.

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program recognized by CAAHEP or ABHES, or certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.

• Proficiency in medical terminology.
• Experience with electronic medical record documentation.

• Must maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and surgical protocols.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure surgical environment.

• Work schedule and shifts to be determined based on surgical case assignments and facility needs.
