Senior Android Engineer

Introduction to Role & TeamWe’re looking for a Senior Android Software Engineer to help shape the Bumble Dating experience. This role is ideal for engineers who are experienced in building and delivering end-to-end features on the Android platform, comfortable owning projects independently, and ready to contribute meaningfully to technical architecture and mentoring junior teammates. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver high-impact work in a fast-moving environment.What You’ll DoDesign, implement, and maintain Bumble application features that are scalable, secure, and reliable, using GCP services.Drive technically complex individual product features from inception to delivery, owning the full software development lifecycle.Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to ship new features and improvements.Evaluate and apply AI-based development tools and workflows to enhance productivity and code quality.Lead architecture discussions and propose technical solutions that support long-term scalability.Support junior engineers through pairing, mentoring, and code reviews.Guide the development of engineering standards and best practices to maintain a high-quality codebase.About You5+ years of professional experience building and shipping production Android applicationsStrong proficiency in Kotlin and experience with modern Android development practicesExperience building UIs using Jetpack Compose and/or XML-based views, with an understanding of their tradeoffsProven experience designing and maintaining Android application architectures (e.g. MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture) in medium-to-large codebasesSolid understanding of Android platform fundamentals, including activity/fragment lifecycle, threading, performance, and memory managementExperience integrating and consuming networked APIs from Android clients, including error handling and offline considerationsExperience owning Android features end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through testing and releaseExcellent communication skills and a collaborative, inclusive mindsetBenefits & PerksInsurance: Medical/dental/vision, 30-day eligibility.
