Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step-Down/PCU position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a valid MO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

• Step-Down/PCU (DOU) unit within a short-term acute care hospital setting
• Dual unit environment — PCU side with a 2-3 patient ratio and floor side with a 4-5 patient ratio; all nurses may be assigned to either side
• Specialized skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, management and titration of cardiac drips, and chest tube care
• Charting is performed in Epic; prior Epic experience required
• Night shift schedule: 7p–7:30a (3x12-hour shifts)
• Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license acceptable for Illinois-based candidates (must be noted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, and chest tube management required
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
• Travel nurses may work at this health system for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Former permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Monthly parking passes are available for purchase; parking options and pricing vary by lot and shift
• Night shift workers may park in employee parking at no charge
