Job Description

The Order Picker plays a key role in receiving, stocking, and accurately fulfilling customer orders within a fast-paced warehouse environment. This position involves performing repetitive tasks for full 8–10 hour shifts while working on your feet, handling inventory, and operating basic warehouse equipment. You will prepare and complete orders for shipment, maintain inventory accuracy, and use computer systems and handheld scanners to track and process products.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming products and stock shelves in designated warehouse locations while maintaining accurate inventory levels.
• Prepare and complete customer orders by loading, packing, wrapping, labeling, and shipping items, including lifting up to 50 lbs periodically.
• Pick orders based on assigned zones and accurately track all picks using RF scanners and warehouse management systems.
• Stand, bend, and lift for 8–10 hours per shift to perform material handling, order picking, and general labor tasks.
• Pick, pack, and ship online customer orders with a strong focus on speed, accuracy, and quality of service.
• Ensure all outbound shipments are properly labeled, packaged, and documented according to company standards.
• Utilize handheld scanners, computers, and warehouse management systems (WMS) to process orders and update inventory information.
• Operate pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely to move, load, and unload materials throughout the distribution center.
• Stay on top of inventory counts and help ensure that stock levels and product locations remain accurate and up to date.
• Cross-train with stockers and other warehouse areas to support overall operations and provide coverage as needed.
• Maintain a consistent work pace and remain focused on repetitive tasks throughout the entire shift.
• Follow all safety guidelines and warehouse procedures to ensure a clean, organized, and secure work area.

Essential Skills

• Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
• Consistent work history, ideally with fewer than two jobs in the last 12 months.
• Experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Ability to stand, bend, and lift for 8–10 hours per shift.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs periodically while performing material handling tasks.
• Comfort using computers and basic warehouse technology.
• Ability to understand written and verbal English instructions.
• Attention to detail to maintain inventory accuracy and ensure correct labeling and documentation.
• Willingness to perform repetitive tasks and remain focused on the same type of work for full shifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Order picking experience using an RF scan gun.
• Experience with RF scanners for tracking picks and inventory.
• Previous experience in order picking, packing, and shipping within a distribution or warehouse setting.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Experience operating pallet jacks and electric pallet jacks.
• General labor experience including loading, unloading, and material handling.
• Ability to work effectively in a large distribution center with racking and processing areas.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large distribution center featuring racking systems, processing areas, and desk spaces dedicated to shipping operations. The environment is fast-paced and active, with wave riders and pallet jacks operated throughout the racking zones. Team members work on their feet for most of the shift, performing physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting, loading, and unloading. The position is on first shift, with a flexible start time between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and end times ranging from about 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on the start time and operational needs. The facility emphasizes safe equipment use, organized workspaces, and collaboration across stocking and other warehouse functions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Batavia, NY.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
