Advanced Practice Provider - Neurology Headache Clinic

Seattle Children's Neurosciences Center is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our specialized Headache Clinic team. This is a primarily clinic-based role offering the opportunity to build and maintain a strong outpatient patient panel while participating in a dynamic triage model that serves as a critical front-line connection for families, primary care providers, and hospital partners. Key Responsibilities Outpatient Headache Care: Provide comprehensive, family-centered care to toddlers, children, teens, and young adults with a wide range of headache disorders-including tension-type headaches, episodic and chronic migraines, post-traumatic headaches (concussion-related), and New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH). Specialized Procedures & Advanced Therapies: Administer and oversee evidence-based headache interventions, including Botox injections for chronic migraine, peripheral nerve blocks, sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) blocks (including intranasal lidocaine protocols), CGRP-targeted therapies, and non-invasive neuromodulation devices. Multidisciplinary Headache Clinic: Collaborate closely with attending Neurologists, pain psychologists, and clinical nurses within our specialized Multidisciplinary Headache Clinic model to manage complex, disabling, or intractable headache syndromes utilizing cognitive behavioral strategies, biofeedback integration, and comprehensive rescue/preventive plans. Clinical Triage & Red-Flag Assessment: Serve in an AP-led triage role, evaluating urgent patient concerns and identifying critical "red flag" neurological symptoms (e.g., morning headaches with vomiting, focal deficits, sudden-onset severe headaches) to determine the appropriate level of escalation-from outpatient medication adjustments to urgent evaluation. Holistic Management & School Support: Educate patients and families on lifestyle modifications, biobehavioral strategies, dietary supplements, and medication management (acute rescue vs. daily preventive). Assist families in securing essential school support and 504 accommodations to minimize academic disruption. Regional Collaboration & Care Coordination: Partner with primary care providers across the Pacific Northwest, as well as allied health professionals (physical therapists, social workers, sleep specialists, and adolescent medicine experts), to provide a seamless "medical home." Required Education and Experience: Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program. One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area. Required Credentials: For Nurse Practitioners: Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington. Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner For Physician Assistants: Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants For All Providers: Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.
