Founding Engineer

Swiss Nexus is partnering with an early-stage, AI-native company rethinking how professional services are delivered. Rather than simply building software for an existing industry, the company is combining domain expertise with AI-powered products and automated workflows to fundamentally change how clients access and interact with professional services. Following strong early traction, the team is expanding its engineering function and looking for a Founding Engineer to join as one of its first technical hires. This is a genuine 0→1 engineering role with significant ownership across product, infrastructure and technical decision-making. The Role You’ll work closely with the founders and domain experts to identify repetitive, complex workflows and turn them into intuitive products, AI agents and automation. There is no narrowly defined frontend or backend lane. You’ll work across the stack, prototype new ideas, ship quickly and make architectural decisions that will influence how the platform develops as the company scales. This role is particularly suited to an engineer who enjoys building from scratch, operating with ambiguity and having direct influence over both product and technology . What You’ll Do Design, build and iterate on core customer-facing products Develop AI-powered workflows, agents and automation Build and ship new product ideas from prototype to production Work across frontend, backend, infrastructure and AI systems Own meaningful architectural and technical decisions Translate complex real-world workflows into simple, scalable software Work directly with domain experts and incorporate user feedback into the product Help establish engineering practices and technical foundations as an early member of the team Move quickly while maintaining a high standard of engineering quality What We’re Looking For 3+ years of professional software engineering experience Experience building and shipping modern web applications in production Working proficiency in Python Strong product instincts and an ability to think beyond implementation Comfortable owning architecture, infrastructure and technical decisions Able to work independently in a fast-moving, relatively unstructured environment Excited by the opportunity to join an early-stage company where responsibilities extend beyond a narrowly defined engineering role Nice to Have Previous experience as a founding or early engineer Experience building LLM-powered products or AI agents Familiarity with technologies such as Supabase or Vercel Experience working in highly regulated or workflow-intensive industries Previous startup experience About Swiss Nexus Swiss Nexus is a specialized recruitment and talent advisory firm connecting exceptional talent with companies building the next generation of technology.
