Informatics Nurse Specialist

CentraState Medical Center is currently seeking an Informatics Nurse Specialist to support Perioperative Administrative Services. This role aligns nursing care with improved quality outcomes through the use of technology.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

• Acting as an informatics resource during the preparation and subsequent phases of implementing new Clinical Information Systems.
• Assessing workflow related processes/requirements to facilitate system enhancements and modifications.
• Recommending, implementing, and supporting approved system optimizations.
• Collaborating with management and clinicians in designing, implementing and maintaining clinical systems.
• Assisting in the development of design specifications in support of new or modified clinical applications, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Documenting current processes to establish a baseline for developmental improvements of future workflows.
• Analyzing, recommending and assisting with implementing new and improved processes and workflows.
• Acting as a liaison and representing CentraState Medical Center users/customers in all project initiatives. Performing post-implementation monitoring of adoption and use.
• Participating in interdisciplinary and process improvement teams to identify potential uses of the information systems and potential optimization of current use of systems.
• Supporting the integration and use of evidence-based methods, tools, and guidelines linked to effective outcomes.
• Supporting and providing data analytics, including quality of care measures and social determinants of health, to improve health outcomes and global health. Supporting clinical staff as change agent in the real time application of information and evidence-based techniques to change healthcare delivery and affect patient outcomes.
• Acting as a liaison to clinically related committees (TBD) and staff to coordinate and communicate projects and outcomes measurement.
• Appraising computer and information technologies for their applicability to care delivery.
• Projecting leadership and implementation with responsibility for policy and procedure development.
• Making rounds to units/departments regularly to assess informatics needs and articulates informatics requirements to other disciplines.
• Informing staff of informatics updates.
• Soliciting feedback and evaluation from managers and staff on the effectiveness of an informatics solution.
• Interpreting communication to and from others, such as informatics professionals, clinicians, patients, supervisor and vendors.
• Participating in design, data collection and analysis of surveys, pilot projects, and formal studies.
• Presenting the story of data analysis findings to stakeholders.
• Performing related duties, as required.

Qualifications

The qualifications include:

• Master's degree in Nursing Informatics required.
• Minimum of three (3) years directly related acute care RN clinical experience, healthcare informatics or healthcare operations, including leadership, and/or data analysis required.
• Experience in project management and data analysis, including in-depth knowledge of Excel spread sheets and pivot tables.
• Current NJ Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• Advanced certifications in Information Systems or Informatics required or must be obtained within one year of employment.
• A strong customer service focus with the ability to develop effective working relationships required.
• Current knowledge of trends and advances in clinical practice and healthcare informatics, as well as new developments and innovations in hardware and software technology.
• Demonstrated initiative, problem identification, resolution and analytical skills are essential, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience gathering requirements and working with data, quality improvement processes and implementation of evidence-based practice in an acute environment.
• Demonstrated fluency in informatics terminology and approved nursing vocabularies.
• Experience in project leadership and implementation.
