JOB TITLE: Mascot

JOB SUMMARY : The Mascot is responsible for portraying Billy, the official mascot of the New Mexico Goatheads, during home games, community appearances, promotional events, and other team activities. This position is responsible for entertaining and engaging fans through physical comedy, crowd interaction, skits, promotions, and spontaneous interaction while maintaining the established personality and brand of the mascot. The Mascot will work closely with the Mascot Handler and game presentation staff to execute scheduled appearances safely and professionally. The ideal candidate is energetic, creative, physically fit, and comfortable performing in front of large crowds without verbal communication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

• Perform as Billy during New Mexico Goatheads home games and select community, promotional, and team events.
• Engage fans of all ages through physical comedy, gestures, dancing, skits, and interactive entertainment.
• Participate in in-game promotions, contests, sponsored activations, and planned game presentation elements.
• Develop and execute creative mascot routines and spontaneous interactions consistent with the Billy character.
• Maintain the established personality, behavior, and brand standards of the New Mexico Goatheads mascot.
• Work closely with the Mascot Handler to move safely through crowds and event spaces.
• Participate in rehearsals and preparation for mascot skits and promotional elements.
• Maintain confidentiality of mascot performer identity when applicable.
• Assist with the proper care, cleanliness, and storage of mascot costumes and equipment.
• Represent the New Mexico Goatheads and REV Entertainment professionally during all appearances.
• Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous mascot, performance, dance, theater, entertainment, or live event experience preferred.
• Strong physical performance and non-verbal communication skills.
• High level of energy, creativity, enthusiasm, and improvisational ability.
• Comfortable interacting with children, families, and large crowds.
• Ability to perform while wearing a full mascot costume for extended periods.
• Strong awareness of surroundings and ability to follow safety protocols.
• Ability to take direction and work collaboratively with the Mascot Handler and game presentation staff.
• Athletic background, dance ability, or performance experience is a plus.
• Reliable and punctual with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on the New Mexico Goatheads event schedule.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move continuously; stand, walk, dance, gesture, bend, kneel, and perform physical movements for extended periods; traverse stairs, concourses, seating areas, and hard or potentially slippery surfaces; and perform while wearing a full mascot costume.
• Must be able to perform in a costume that may restrict vision, hearing, movement, and ventilation.
• Must be able to tolerate elevated temperatures and physically demanding conditions while in costume.
• Must be able to transport, position, or move mascot costume pieces and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Position may require work inside or outside of a building and in varying temperatures or weather conditions.
• Must be able to work extended and non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
