Railcar Repair Technician

Job Overview Transco Rail Services, a part of Marmon Holdings (Berkshire Hathaway), offers a role for a Railcar Repair Technician. The position involves repair and maintenance of tank cars, safety compliance, and customer support. Responsibilities Conduct repairs and maintenance on tank cars following current procedures. Perform railcar inspections to ensure compliance with AAR rules and regulations. Lead and work collaboratively within a team, demonstrating good leadership and interpersonal skills. Provide customer support, meeting expectations and ensuring satisfaction. Handle necessary clerical tasks: invoicing, inspection reports, work order data. Maintain and complete required certifications, staying familiar with AAR regulations. Complete other work‑related tasks as assigned. General Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving ability, and sound decision making. Proficiency in hand tools such as pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets, and equipment for grinding weld slag or spatter. Capability to perform basic railcar repairs and inspections. Strong customer‑relations skills and ability to work safely and follow proper procedures. Valid driver’s license. Physical Requirements Stoop for extended periods and transition between kneeling and standing. Lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surface. Climb ladders and work at elevated heights. Operate in confined spaces, entering through an 18" diameter opening. Perform a FIT Test and use a respirator. Pass company physical exam, drug screening, and background check.
