Schedule: Monday–Friday, Early Morning
Required Availability: 6:15 AM–8:00 AM or 6:15 AM–9:00 AM, depending on assigned location

Position Summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois is seeking dependable, energetic, and caring individuals to join our team as Morning Program Youth Development Assistants.

The Morning Program Youth Development Assistant is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for youth participating in our before-school programs. This position works directly with youth by providing supervision, leading activities, supporting positive behavior, and helping members safely transition into their school day.

This is an early-morning position. Candidates must be available to report to work by 6:15 AM Monday through Friday. Morning programs generally end between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM , depending on the assigned school or program location.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision of youth at all times and maintain a safe, positive program environment.
• Welcome members and families as they arrive for morning programming.
• Lead and participate in age-appropriate activities, games, enrichment opportunities, and structured programming.
• Build positive and supportive relationships with youth while serving as a positive role model.
• Encourage participation, teamwork, respect, responsibility, and positive behavior.
• Maintain appropriate staff-to-member supervision and remain attentive to members throughout the program.
• Assist with program setup, organization, and cleanup.
• Support the safe and orderly transition of members from the Morning Program to the school day.
• Communicate professionally with members, families, school personnel, supervisors, and other Club staff.
• Report safety concerns, incidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, or other significant issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow all Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois policies, procedures, child-safety standards, and site requirements.
• Attend required training, meetings, and professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule & Availability Requirements

This is a part-time, early-morning position . Candidates must have reliable and consistent availability Monday through Friday .

Employees must be available to report to their assigned location by 6:15 AM. Shifts generally run:

6:15 AM–8:00 AM
or
6:15 AM–9:00 AM

The exact end time will depend on the assigned location and school schedule.

Because Morning Program staff are responsible for opening and supervising programming before the school day begins, reliable attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.

Compensation

The Morning Program Youth Development Assistant rate is $17.00 per hour .

Employees who already have an established hourly rate of $17.00 or higher will maintain their current applicable rate in accordance with organizational pay practices.

Requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience working with children or youth is preferred but not required.
• Must be able to consistently report to work by 6:15 AM Monday through Friday .
• Ability to work effectively with children and youth from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with youth.
• Must successfully complete all required background checks, screenings, and organizational training.
• Must meet all applicable Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois and program-site requirements.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. The position may require standing, walking, bending, sitting, participating in recreational activities, moving program supplies, and actively supervising youth for extended periods.
