Accountabilities:

The Senior Director of Hospice Quality and Education will oversee quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and professional development programs while ensuring alignment with healthcare standards, organizational goals, and patient care priorities. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to develop scalable education and quality initiatives.

• Lead and oversee hospice quality improvement activities using continuous quality improvement principles and methodologies.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs, training curriculums, and professional development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoPs), accreditation standards, and applicable healthcare regulations.
• Manage and support education and quality teams, ensuring effective execution and sustainability of learning programs.
• Collaborate with clinical leadership and Human Resources to coordinate onboarding, orientation, and ongoing staff development.
• Establish processes to monitor and improve patient care quality, safety, risk management, infection control, documentation accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain documentation improvement initiatives, including task forces and audit processes.
• Monitor quality metrics, analyze performance trends, and provide recommendations to leadership for continuous improvement.
• Oversee audit management processes, including chart reviews and corrective action planning.
• Support regulatory readiness by staying current with hospice standards, Medicare requirements, and industry best practices.
• Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and report progress to executive leadership.
• Collaborate with external vendors and internal teams to optimize educational resources and operational effectiveness.
• Contribute to strategic program development and initiatives that support organizational growth.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced hospice or home healthcare leader with strong knowledge of clinical operations, regulatory requirements, quality management, and adult learning principles. The successful candidate will combine healthcare expertise with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational improvement.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• 7+ years of clinical experience in hospice or home health environments preferred.
• 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience managing teams.
• Experience with state and CMS survey processes, accreditation requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong understanding of Medicare regulations, Hospice Conditions of Participation (CoPs), QAPI, and ACHC accreditation standards.
• Demonstrated experience developing and improving organizational quality metrics.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, documentation standards, and basic ICD-10 coding.
• Experience with hospice documentation systems such as Homecare Homebase (HCHB) preferred.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and experience delivering training programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong leadership, team-building, and change-management capabilities.
