Custodian

Performs routine custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Essential Job Functions include cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and buffing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets; dusting furniture and disinfecting surfaces; emptying trash receptacles; moving furniture; cleaning windows, window sills, and mirrors; washing walls; cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms; sweeping halls and outside walks, gathering recyclables and picking up trash from grounds and buildings. Performs, inspects, observes, and reports conditions affecting the safety, security, and economical operation of facilities, fixtures, and furnishings. Operates mechanical cleaning equipment including buffers, vacuums, large scrubbers, sweepers, and extraction equipment. Knowledge/Skills include knowledge of use of chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants; knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices; skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants; ability to read and write; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; to communicate; and to operate cleaning equipment. Performs other duties as directed or assigned. Minimum Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED certificate, 1 year work experience, basic knowledge of cleaning tools, products, and procedures, valid New Mexico Driver's License, and ability to pass Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check.
