Assembly Worker

Experienced Assembler

Location: Newport News, Virginia, United States

Salary Range: $74,297.60 to $85,196.80

The selected candidate must have the ability to:

• Perform hydrostatic testing of components and assemblies in accordance with engineering requirements, and test procedures
• Operate magnetic base drills and other in-place machining equipment to perform in-place drilling, reaming, line boring, and tapping
• Install and align industrial maritime machinery using engineering drawings, and installation specifications
• Read, interpret, and work from mechanical drawings, and fabrication prints
• Perform fabrications tasks including cutting, fitting, and grinding
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring equipment
• Troubleshoot assembly issues and recommend corrective actions
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while complying with all safety and quality requirements
• Assemble and disassemble mechanical components such as valves, gearboxes, doors, pumps, etc.

Must Have:

• Must have 3+ years of experience in assembly or outside machining / relevant experience
• Must be able to use precision instruments efficiently, and lift objects up to 40 pounds
• This job requires limited bending, standing, squatting and climbing

Nice to Have:

• Experience in naval, heavy industrial or shipbuilding environments and experience with machinery alignment, familiarity with quality control and test records a plus
