Location & Shift Location: Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Worker Type: Regular Shift: Primarily days, with night, weekend and holiday on‑call involvement (United States) Pay Range $32.50 - $48.50 per hour, actual rate depends on experience. Position Highlights / Hours Three 8‑hour shifts and one 12‑hour shift per week; weekday call once a week or every other week; 10th weekend on call; one holiday per year on call. Student Loan Repayment Eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program. Up to $167 per month (up to $10,000 lifetime). Responsibilities Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicate the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health‑care team; coordinate with other health‑care providers; provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; confer with physicians. Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining patients; documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family and friends; developing nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. Teach healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals; instruct patient, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self‑care skills; answer questions; provide information and resources. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care standards; reviewing patient records; noting changing conditions and needs; re‑evaluating care objectives; modifying nursing care plan. Maintain safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled‑substance regulations; adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keep patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Keep patient care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Ability to work the specified hours. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license in the state of practice. Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience 1–3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
