Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join a dynamic team in revamping and fully staffing up a Trucking Diesel Shop. The role involves extensive work on Ford, Mack, and International Trucks, as well as other light to heavy equipment. The position requires adherence to OSHA and Company Safety Policies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair trucks and equipment by observing, listening, and utilizing diagnostic tools.
• Install new ignition systems, align front wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
• Replace gas or diesel engines and perform engine overhauls.
• Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices.
• Perform lubrication and servicing of vehicles.
• Fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to schematic drawings.
• Conduct collision repair, sanding, preparation, and painting.
• Complete standard maintenance and ensure state inspection requirements for cars, trucks, and trailers are met.
• Possess electrical diagnosing experience.
• Perform diagnostics through the use of computers.
• Assign tasks to mechanics and supervise them as required.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA/MSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Communicate with supervisors and operations personnel regarding unscheduled repair requirements.
• Maintain requisitions and supply of spare parts.
• Enforce all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and unbiased shop environment.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations for all licensed equipment and vehicles.

• 5-10 years of experience in the Diesel Field.
• Ability to work independently or with a helper.
• Experience in electrical diagnosing and diesel engine overhaul.
• Proficiency in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel engines and trucks.
• Experience with hydraulics and welding.
• Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year.
• Clean driving record.
• Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
• Mathematical skills to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Basic computer skills and ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
• Ability to meet physical requirements relevant to the job.
• State Inspection license is preferred.
• Experience in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries is a plus.
• OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications.

Work Environment

Work in a shop environment across two buildings, facing varied conditions like hot, cold, and dirty settings. The position requires self-motivation and the ability to work independently. Shifts are available: Lead Diesel Mechanic on 1st Shift (7:00 am-4:00 pm) and Diesel Mechanic on 2nd Shift (3:00 pm-11:00 pm). Must have own tools, and bring them during the first week.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, PA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Middletown,PA.
