Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the PACU provides specialized peri-anesthesia nursing care to adult, geriatric, and adolescent patients during the post-anesthesia recovery period. They ensure patient safety, monitor vital signs, and manage pain and airway concerns from admission through discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' condition continually during recovery and interpret clinical data to identify changes requiring intervention.
• Administer medications, including anesthesia reversal agents, and monitor for adverse reactions or side effects.
• Implement airway management protocols and emergency procedures as needed to maintain patient stability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans.
• Document patient responses, interventions, and discharge instructions accurately and timely.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid California RN license with Nursys verification within the last two weeks.
• Demonstrate at least 2 years of PACU RN experience, preferably in a high-acuity hospital setting.
• Maintain current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Possess extensive knowledge of peri-anesthesia care standards, airway management, and pharmacology.
• Display strong assessment skills and ability to respond swiftly to patient needs.
