Human Resources Assistant – Short-Term – Non-Classified Location: District Salary: $28.00/hour Job Summary Under the general supervision of the assigned administrator, the assistant provides confidential and administrative support to the Office of Human Resources and Employee Relations (HRER). Duties include recruitment, onboarding, compliance documentation, and general HRER operations in alignment with state and federal laws and regulations. Responsibilities Assist in preparing materials and documentation for labor relations and collective bargaining, including research and statistical data. Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files in compliance with Education Code, Title 5, and District retention requirements. Support onboarding processes, including Live Scan coordination, I‑9 verification, and new hire documentation. Handle confidential information in accordance with relevant laws, rules, and District policies. Support projects such as classification reviews, data audits, and process improvements. Assist with compliance tasks, including mandated training tracking, credential verification, TB clearance, and employment eligibility. Perform general administrative duties such as scheduling, document preparation, scanning, and correspondence. Assist with recruitment activities, including job postings, applicant tracking, screening logistics, and candidate communication. Provide front‑line customer service to employees, applicants, and the public; respond to routine inquiries and direct complex matters to appropriate staff. Process personnel actions such as assignments, separations, salary placement documentation, and timesheets. Enter and update information in various systems accurately and with attention to detail. Perform other related duties as assigned; tasks not listed may be undertaken if similar or related. Qualifications Completion of twelfth (12th) grade and one (1) year of clerical, administrative, or HR‑related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. College coursework in HR, business administration, or a related field; experience in a public agency or educational institution preferred. Knowledge of basic HR, office, and customer‑service principles and practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn HR Information Systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems. Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse populations. Organizational and attention‑to‑detail skills required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
