Assistant Program Director - Wellness Together

University Settlement is one of New York City's most dynamic social justice institutions, with an impressive legacy as the first settlement house in the nation. For over 135 years, University Settlement has been an anchor in the low-income and immigrant communities where we work, offering pioneering programs in early childhood care and education, youth development, eviction prevention, literacy, theater and visual arts, older adults services, and mental health. Each year, we engage over 40,000 New Yorkers through our network of 30 sites in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Our mission is to empower residents by building on their strengths through comprehensive, quality services that meet the current needs of the community; innovation that anticipates future needs; and advocacy to bring justice to the community as a whole.Wellness Together aims to improve the quality of life for older adults who are homebound due to age or infirmary. Through comprehensive case management, various virtual group activities, and volunteer services, the program supports older adults to live their lives to their fullest potential. The program is part of the agency’s LEARN (Longevity through Education, Arts, Recreation, and Nutrition) network that works with older adults.The Assistant Program Director partners with the Program Director to ensure excellence across all aspects of programming and community engagement. This includes advancing University Settlement’s mission, implementing LEARN collaborative projects, fostering staff development, and leveraging data to track outcomes and achieve program goals, with a strong focus on contract compliance and program quality.Responsibilities:Supervise Case Supervisors, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations.Supervise interns.Ensure all aspects of case management are delivered effectively, including intake, assessment, care planning, service coordination, and ongoing monitoring.Monitor caseloads and service delivery to maintain quality and timelines.Timely submission of all reports with respect to contract mandates.Identify gaps in knowledge and create targeted learning opportunities to ensure staff are equipped to meet client needs and compliance standards.Assist in workforce planning, including hiring, onboarding, and ongoing staff capacity building.Work with the program director to maintain program readiness for internal and external audits and site visits.Collaborate with the data team and support data collection, analysis of program outputs, outcomes, and trends within the program and across departments, and develop tactical responses.Support integration of all older adult services throughout the organization and within LEARN, the consortium of all programs serving older adults, through participation in coalition meetings and effective relationship maintenance.Participate in community outreach and partnership development to expand program resources.Support the program’s “stay connected” arm by assisting with participants recruitment, interests gathering, communication, and other related tasks.Participation and representation of the Settlement in professional groups, coalitions, and advocacy forums.Active participation in Settlement-wide activities and policy initiatives.Weave a commitment to systems change advocacy into program communications, community materials, and staff expectations.Cover cases as needed.Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications:Master’s degree in Social Work or a related fieldLMSW requiredMinimum of two years of experience in community-based direct service, with expertise in gerontology, administration, program leadership, community coalition building, and/or managerial and supervisory rolesExceptional verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilitiesHighly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independentlyDemonstrated ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment for both program participants and staffStrong leadership skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a teamProven ability to manage multiple priorities and perform well under deadline pressureDeep understanding of the impact of social policies on communities, cultural competence in diverse settings, and a commitment to community advocacy and advancing just social policies locally and beyondStrong attention to detail, follow-through, and proficiency with technologyBilingual proficiency in English/Spanish or English/Chinese preferred (language needs may vary)Commitment to advancing the agency’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and systems-change advocacyWork Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm, 35 hour per weekWe are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community.
