We are looking for an experienced Logistics Operations Manager to lead warehouse, transportation, and home delivery operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to safety, efficiency, team development, and customer service.

Position Summary

The Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for the overall success of assigned operational functions within a warehouse and home delivery environment. The Logistics Operations Manager works with the Logistics Terminal Manager to develop and implement strategies that maximize productivity, improve efficiency, manage operating costs, and support the overall success of the facility.

Depending on business needs, this position may oversee one or more of the following areas:

1. Inbound Operations – Unloading and receiving
2. Warehouse Operations – Product processing, inventory flow, organization, and facility operations
3. Outbound Operations – Loading and preparing products for delivery
4. Transportation Operations – Yard operations, delivery operations, and 3PL oversight .
5. Office Operations – Transportation, customer service, and administrative support

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing operational trends, identifying opportunities for improvement, solving problems, and motivating and developing employees. This position provides leadership both directly and through Supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, and timely home delivery throughout the assigned service area.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

1. Lead daily warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and productive movement and processing of products.
2. Oversee inbound receiving, warehouse processing, inventory flow, outbound loading, and overall facility organization.
3. Ensure warehouse management systems and related equipment are utilized effectively.
4. Maintain proper warehouse layout, product placement, organization, and housekeeping standards.
5. Evaluate operational processes and recommend improvements to maximize productivity and efficiency.
6. Adjust warehouse layouts and workflows as needed to support seasonal changes, inventory levels, and business demands.

Process Improvement & Cost Management

1. Partner with the Logistics Terminal Manager to evaluate work methods, procedures, staffing, and operational controls.
2. Analyze operational trends and performance metrics to identify opportunities and resolve challenges.
3. Support financial, operational, service, and people-related objectives designed to improve efficiency and reduce overall cost-to-serve.
4. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, staffing, workflow, and resource utilization.Anticipate and prepare for seasonal changes, volume fluctuations, special events, and other operational demands.
5. Help implement process improvements that support long-term operational success.

Leadership & Team Development

1. Lead, coach, train, and develop employees and Supervisors to achieve operational and service goals.
2. Provide ongoing performance feedback through hands‑on coaching, performance discussions, and formal evaluations.
3. Create a positive, employee-centered workplace that promotes teamwork, accountability, respect, and professional growth.
4. Motivate employees and 3PL partners to achieve established performance expectations.
5. Support employee selection, performance management, development, and disciplinary processes.
6. Recognize employee strengths and development opportunities and provide appropriate coaching and support.

Safety & Compliance

1. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout warehouse and delivery operations.
2. Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and operational standards.
3. Monitor facility safety, physical security, and operational metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
4. Identify safety concerns and take appropriate corrective action.
5. Serve as a safety role model and hold employees and partners accountable for safe work practices.
6. Maintain a workplace that demonstrates care and concern for employees and promotes safe working conditions.

Transportation & Customer Service

1. Work with the Logistics Terminal Manager to manage relationships with transportation and delivery partners.
2. Monitor transportation and delivery performance and address opportunities for improvement.
3. Work closely with transportation and customer service teams to support accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries.
4. Assist with the management and performance of 3PL partners , as applicable.
5. Review delivery performance and operational metrics to ensure established service expectations are achieved.
6. Support a customer-focused environment that promotes a positive delivery experience.

Reporting & Leadership

1. Reports directly to the Logistics Terminal Manager .
2. Occasionally provides direct and indirect supervision to warehouse, transportation, and office personnel, including Supervisors and hourly associates.
3. Provides leadership, coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members.
4. Participates in personnel decisions, including hiring, performance management, development, and termination, as appropriate.
5. May assist with managing independent contractor partners and their performance.

Travel Requirements

1. Overnight travel is typically less than 10% .
2. Local travel may be required for delivery team audits, operational reviews, and other business needs.

Physical Requirements

1. Ability to work in both warehouse and office environments.
2. Requires periods of walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting.
3. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds .
4. Must be able to assist warehouse employees with physical operational duties as needed.
5. Ability to safely work around warehouse equipment, vehicles, and moving materials.

Working Conditions

This position primarily works in a warehouse and office environment and may be regularly exposed to:

1. Varying temperatures
2. Moving machinery and equipment
3. Loud noise
4. Dust and fumes
5. Warehouse and transportation-related hazards

The ability to follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment is required.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
2. Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in transportation, logistics, warehouse, distribution, home delivery, or operations.
3. High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field.
2. Previous management or supervisory experience in warehouse, transportation, distribution, or home delivery operations.Experience managing hourly employees and/or consulting with 3PL partners.
3. Experience with warehouse management and transportation systems.
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel .
5. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
6. Previous experience leading process improvements or organizational change.
7. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
8. Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
9. Ability to respond to operational needs outside of normal business hours.
