Senior Business Development Director

Compensation and Benefits Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated pay range is $220,000 - $270,000 total compensation (base + commission) annually. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. Your annual salary is only one part of your total compensation package. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es). Job Description Position Summary: Discovery Life Sciences is a trusted provider of bioanalytic and biospecimen services to hundreds of customers across the U.S. and around the world. The Senior Business Development Director role contributes to our mission by consistently developing and closing new and repeat business from customer and prospect accounts in an assigned territory selling IHC, Genomics, Proteomics, and Flow Cytometry services. A Day in the Life of a Senior Director of Business Development at Discovery Life Sciences: Prospect and source potential new pharma and biotech customers to sell genomics, immunochemistry (IHC), proteomics, and flow cytometry services. Pitch and present Discovery Life Sciences research services and solutions using professional selling skills. Coordinate large, strategic meetings between customer's senior scientific leadership and appropriate Company leadership to win large-scale projects with substantial revenue potential. Collaborate with scientific SMEs to obtain sales contracts. Key Responsibilities: Present and help evaluate the workability of client projects with Discovery Life Sciences' procurement Feasibility team, Scientific leadership team, and internal and external collaborators. Productively manage an opportunity pipeline (25-50+ open opportunities) and Feasibility case queue with updated next steps and feedback from customers. Consistently advance calls and win business by setting clear next steps and properly executing them. Use logic, reason, and scientific acumen to close deals instead of relying on discounts. Report market intel back to team (Management, Business Unit Leadership, Sales, Marketing, etc.) by documenting sales calls and client feedback. Work cooperatively with inside sales support professionals, Global Account Managers, fellow Business Development Directors, Marketing, and Feasibility to maximize sales success in assigned territory. Generate a variety of reports for clients as needed. Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the Company interacts. Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here. Consistent and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position. Location, Work Hours, and Application Details Remote – Ideally within the eastern or central time zone. Up to 50% travel required. Requirements Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience): Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of business development sales experience selling one or more of our service offerings- genomics, immunohistochemistry (IHC), proteomics, or flow cytometry. Bachelor’s degree required; MS or PhD is preferred. Ability to build and nurture relationships with large pharma clients and potential clients. Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team. Team-first attitude and passion to achieve Commercial Team and company-wide goals. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
