Job Description

Support students in their educational journey by providing essential services as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist. You will collaborate with students, educators, and families to ensure an accessible and inclusive learning environment. This contract opportunity is ideal for professionals experienced in working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students who are eager to make a lasting impact.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Valid teaching certification for Deaf / Hard of Hearing, or equivalent specialist license
Previous experience working with K-12 students with hearing impairments
Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with hearing assistive technology
Strong ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and school staff
Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Excellent communication and advocacy skills

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instructional support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both individually and in group settings
Assess students’ educational needs and monitor progress toward academic and social goals
Facilitate the use and maintenance of assistive listening devices and technology
Consult with teachers regarding accommodations, modifications, and strategies to support student learning
Act as a resource for students, faculty, and families to promote effective communication and understanding of Deaf culture
Support the integration of students into mainstream classrooms as appropriate
