About the Opportunity Evren Technologies is a clinical-stage medical device company developing Phoenix—a first-of-its-kind, FDA-designated Breakthrough Device for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using non-invasive transauricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS). Furthermore, acute trauma exacerbations frequently culminate in emergency department visits. Phoenix is designed to address this gap. Through a closed-loop, ear-level neuromodulation system, patients can receive safe, non-invasive treatment at home—targeting autonomic nervous system regulation. The platform is supported by clinical evidence, FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, and active collaboration across the VA, NIH, and Department of Defense research ecosystem. Role Overview Evren Technologies is seeking an Advisory Board Member – Emergency Medicine & Acute Trauma to provide high-level clinical, operational, and frontline guidance as the company progresses through pivotal trials, VA deployment, and early commercialization. This is a board-level advisory opportunity for an accomplished, board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician with deep experience in acute trauma, crisis intervention, autonomic nervous system distress, or healthcare systems operations. You will work closely with Evren’s executive, scientific, and clinical leadership to help shape how a novel bioelectronic approach to PTSD can be integrated into acute care settings, crisis stabilization, and frontline physician networks—ensuring real-world clinical relevance, seamless care transitions, and strong advocacy within the acute care ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Board-Level Clinical Guidance Provide strategic input on Evren’s clinical direction, with a focus on acute stress management, early trauma intervention, and the intersections of autonomic crisis in emergency settings. Help guide the operational feasibility and long-term frontline implementation of the Phoenix platform. Care Pathway & ED Integration Advise on how Phoenix can be positioned within acute care pathways, psychiatric emergency services (PES), and crisis stabilization units. Help map seamless transition protocols from acute ED presentations to home-based, non-invasive neuromodulation therapy. Evidence & Trial Design Support Provide clinical insight on emergency medicine endpoints, acute biomarker tracking, and real-world compliance in high-stress populations. Advise on clinical trial recruitment strategies that capture patients during acute touchpoints within hospital networks. First Responder & Veteran Advocacy Leverage professional insight to shape trauma-informed care narratives tailored specifically to high-risk populations like paramedics, firefighters, police officers, and frontline medical staff. Support mechanism-of-action narratives regarding rapid autonomic nervous system regulation during acute distress. Strategic Network Support Facilitate introductions to emergency medicine academic leaders, major hospital networks, trauma center investigators, and professional organizations (e.g., ACEP, SAEM). Support engagement with the broader acute care and behavioral health integration communities. Advisory Participation Participate in periodic advisory board discussions to help guide Evren’s clinical, operational, and strategic commercialization roadmap. Ideal Candidate Profile MD or DO with board certification in Emergency Medicine. Additional fellowships or focus in Toxicology, Disaster Medicine, EMS, or Behavioral/Crisis Emergencies is a strong plus. 10+ years of active clinical, academic, research, or operational leadership experience within an emergency department or trauma network setting. Strong familiarity with autonomic nervous system physiology, acute stress response, and an interest in non-invasive bioelectronic medicine/neuromodulation. Experience participating in clinical trials, health systems research, or the evaluation of FDA-regulated medical devices preferred. Prior advisory board, hospital committee, or professional society leadership experience strongly preferred. Comfortable contributing at a senior, cross-functional, and strategic level. A profound interest in advancing innovative, evidence-based PTSD treatments for patients, veterans, and fellow first responders.
