Come join us and make a meaningful impact on the community you serve.About the JobWe are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our Neurology team in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital. This role supports board-certified neurologists and experienced technicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of patients with neurological conditions. In this position, you will play a key role in patient handling, anesthesia support, diagnostics, and client communication. You'll assist with advanced imaging procedures, surgical preparation, and inpatient care for complex neurological cases such as seizures, spinal cord injuries, and brain disease.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist veterinarians and technicians with neurological patient exams and treatmentsSafely restrain and monitor patients during procedures and diagnosticsSupport anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recoveryPrepare patients and equipment for MRI, CT, and radiographsAssist with spinal taps, CSF collection, and other specialty procedures (as trained)Provide inpatient care including medication administration, feeding, and comfort supportMaintain accurate medical records and treatment documentationCommunicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding patient updates and care instructionsClean, organize, and maintain treatment areas and surgical suitesQualificationsPrevious experience in a veterinary assistant, technician assistant, or animal care role preferredStrong handling and restraint skills with dogs and cats; exotics experience a plusComfortable in a high-acuity, specialty or emergency environmentAbility to remain calm and focused with critical or neurologically impaired patientsBasic knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and hospital flowExcellent communication and teamwork skillsWillingness to learn advanced procedures and specialty diagnosticsAvailable SchedulesWednesday through SaturdayMonday through ThursdaySalary$19.00 - $23.00 / hour based on experienceBenefitsHighly competitive salary based on experienceMental health support with TalkspaceContinuing education support with CE allowance and PTOReimbursement of membership and licensure fees401k retirement plan options with company matchMedical, vision, and dental insurance options - some plans may be paid up to 100%Basic life insurance provided and other voluntary insurance options available for full-time team members6 weeks paid parental leave for full-time team membersHospital discounts as well as Trupanion Pet InsurancePaid time off and time to enjoy it!Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital is Hiring… and so is everyone else.
