Tech-Surgical Certified - Midshift

Job Summary Provides technical scrub skills in the operating room during surgical procedures and assists the surgical team as needed. Must be energetic and highly motivated to support the success of Saint Louis University Hospital. Essential Functions Demonstrates professionalism: performs patient safety care, scrubs primary procedures, operates equipment, uses computer for data entry, follows standards, demonstrates flexibility, participates in specialty area, and maintains certification. Cooperates with personnel: supports inter‑departmental objectives, assists other departments such as ACU and PACU. Safety/Infection Control: practices universal precautions, disposes hazardous wastes, maintains a safe environment, reports risk concerns, and completes mandatory safety training. Service Excellence: provides courteous, respectful service, meets patients’ physical and emotional needs, communicates effectively and confidentially, reports accurately, shares knowledge, and uses resources efficiently. Performance Improvement: participates in PI discussions, collects PI data, engages in research activities. Age‑Appropriate Care: provides a safe environment and effective communication tailored to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients; attends annual age‑specific in‑service. Job Specifications Minimum Education: high school graduate or equivalent (preferred). Minimum Experience: prior or graduate from an approved surgical technician program (preferred). Required Registry/License: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). Required Courses: see above. Working Conditions: travel quickly between operating rooms, wear protective clothing, exposure to blood‑borne disease, hot/cold materials, latex, and electrical equipment; requires good organization, planning, judgment, and safety awareness. Physical Requirements: ability to sit, stand, walk, transfer patients, lift up to 50lbs, push/pull up to 100lbs, handle equipment; requires manual dexterity and mobility. Professional Licenses: BLSHCP (American Heart Association), CST or equivalent. Work Shift Day shift, 36hours per week.
