Part-time School Climate Advisor

Ansonia Public Schools is looking for a part-time School Climate Advisor. Reports to the building principal. Experience working with students in the grade levels served by the school is required. Must have at least an associate's degree, although a bachelor's degree is preferred. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, administrators and parents. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Possesses the ability to relate to students with behavioral problems. Demonstrates effective problem solving, organizational skills, planning, record keeping and computer literacy skills.

Job goals include supporting the school administration in creating and maintaining a positive school climate. Providing support for a positive and structured in-school Student Support Center where students can address factors causing disciplinary issues such as time management, organization and study skills, and/or feelings of disconnection from the larger student body.

The role involves working in conjunction with the School Climate Advisor and attendance staff to input student discipline information into the appropriate computer-based program in order to maintain accurate records of student behavior and attendance. Assisting other school staff during lunch to promote a positive school climate. Assisting with structured activities for students during recess. Working collaboratively in developing schedules, routines, and coverage for the cafeteria, recess and student support center. Consulting with faculty, administrators and other special services personnel on student behavioral issues. Maintaining records related to the Student Support Center and inputting student discipline information into the appropriate computer-based program. Additional responsibilities as determined by the building administrator. 19.5 hours per week.
