Medical Laboratory Technician About City of Hope: City of Hope is a leading cancer research and treatment organization founded in 1913, renowned for its breakthroughs in cancer and diabetes therapies. Shift & Schedule Shift: 5:30am–4:00pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. The candidate must be available for on‑call shifts and coverage of other shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Responsibilities Accurately perform routine and complex laboratory tests and report results within the expected turnaround time to assist healthcare providers in delivering optimal patient outcomes. Conduct all required equipment maintenance, calibration, and quality control testing per departmental procedures. Sign up for on‑call shifts and provide coverage for other shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Execute tasks such as specimen transport, specimen processing for in‑house and send‑out testing for reference laboratories, answering telephone calls, reviewing pending logs, etc. Qualifications Education: Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or successful completion of a U.S. military Medical Laboratory training program. Certification: Certification required (ASCP or AMT) or eligibility to take the exam. Must complete certification (ASCP or AMT) within 18 months of hire. Special Skills: Professional demeanor, effective collaboration, and communication skills to work with co‑workers, nursing staff, and physicians; knowledge of regulatory requirements and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP); above‑average problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
