POSITION SUMMARY The Development Engineer is responsible for the technical development of new and existing products (from concept through production) being on time, on budget, and to product costs. This position works closely with the Business Unit, Marketing, Operations, Purchasing and Finance departments to ensure that the company metrics regarding the success of new and existing products are met or exceeded. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Project Manages new product development projects from concept, through prototyping, testing, tooling into full production Ensures product development is achieved on time, within the capital budget, to the required product costs, while meeting the assigned quality standards Performs project management, 3D CAD design and 2D documentation tasks including the creation and updating of project timelines, engineering drawings, summary reports, and the creation of test specifications for projects Work closely with other members of the Engineering department to develop BOMs, product costs and Operational documentation that is critical to business operations Communicates project progress/issues to appropriate team members and cross-functional departments as required REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & COMPETENCIES Strong knowledge of 3-D modeling software; CREO preferred Strong PC skills including the Microsoft Office Suite Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) to all levels of the company Ability to maintain a consistently high level of attention to detail Ability to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea Ability to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information Ability to organize and direct a project to completion, under aggressive deadlines Ability to assess multiple tasks and develop a plan to complete them on time and in a logical and efficient manner Ability to utilize available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education Requirements BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience 2-5 years of experience in the Product and/or Development Engineering field Consumer product experience preferred Experience in Roll Forming design/manufacturing a plus Experience in Carport design a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr Variety Staffing
