We design, construct, install, integrate, operate, monitor, and maintain a wide variety of Transportation Infrastructure Assets/Technologies for our customers and communities.We are currently seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to join our team in Glen Burnie, MD. This role includes operating a variety of specialized vehicles and equipment such as Hydro-Vac Trucks, Bucket Trucks, Excavators, Backhoes, Cranes, and other heavy machinery used in commercial electrical and infrastructure projects.We offer a comprehensive benefits package including Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, Discretionary Bonus, Medical, Dental, Vision, Short/Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance and matching 401(k) plan.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Skilled and technical work in the construction, installation, and repair of traffic signal systems, highway lighting, and other transportation related systems.Drives construction equipment to and from job sites, loads and unloads equipment from trucks and/or trailers.Inspects equipment, performs preventive maintenance, and reports needed repairs.Safely and efficiently operates all equipment including but not limited to; aerial lift/bucket trucks, trenchers, derrick/digger trucks, cranes, backhoes, trackhoes, air compressors, and concrete saws.Makes operating adjustments and minor repairs to equipment such as changing buckets and teeth and tightening loose bolts and fittings.Assist with supervision and training of subordinate employees.Have their own hand tools (Complete list).Follow requirements for utility locates and permits.Fill out and turn in required personal and project paperwork.Maintain a neat and professional appearance.Communications with customers and other contractors.Responsible for maintaining and renewing required certifications and licenses.Provide their own transportation to and from work and/or be responsible for company assigned vehicle if provided and typically report to work at the job site.Wear steel toe work boots when working on a construction site.Wear Safety Vest and Hard Hat when on a job site.Use proper PPE as required.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:High School Diploma or GED.Minimum 3 years combined experience as a Groundsman / Laborer and Equipment Operator I. Some experience may be substituted with equivalent related construction or electrical experience.Ability to operate gas torches (cutting and brazing).Must be proficient with basic hand tools and power tools.Must be proficient at traffic signal wiring.Must be familiar with MDOT, Local, Customer, and Project specific standards and specifications.Must be able to read plans and schematic diagrams.Must be able to read survey stakes, elevations, and grades.Must be familiar with basic communications systems, radio, fiber, hard wire, etc.Ability to troubleshoot and repair simple problems.Ability to efficiently supervise others, analyze and solve work problems, make decisions.Ability to perform heavy physical work, often under adverse weather conditions.Ability to follow and transmit clear written and verbal instructions.Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND TRAINING:Must possess and maintain valid commercial driver's license (CDL class A).Must be insurable.Hazard Communications/MSDSBlood Borne Pathogens, Hantavirus, Respiratory ProtectionWL Bucket Truck/Aerial Lift, and Fall Protection.WL Trencher, Excavation, and Utility Damage Prevention.WL Crane and Rigging/Material HandlingCDOT Flagger CertificationIMSA Work Zone Safety certification or equivalent.IMSA Traffic Signal Level I Certification.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Must be able to work in all weather conditions.Must be able to work at heights over 15 feet.Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.COMPENSATION:This is a "Full Time" hourly position with the opportunity to advance. Pay range is between $31.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on previous experience.
