Georgia SHIP Outreach Lead

Job Summary The Outreach Lead will assist the coordinator with promotion of Georgia SHIP in the counties of our Physical Service Area (PSA). The position will have primary responsibility to solicit, schedule and participate in community education events and outreach activities. The position will assist the coordinator in the volunteer management aspect of the Georgia SHIP Program. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions Solicit, schedule, and participate in community, partner, and Legacy Link education and outreach events to achieve grant(s) goals and objectives. Assist with maintaining Georgia SHIP social media presence on Legacy Link’s website and Facebook account and with participating partners with materials approved by DAS. Assist with the recruitment and continuation of community partners. Complete and maintain the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Medicare Counselor Certification. Responsible for accurate and timely data collection and report monthly of outreach events and media activities in the Federal data System, STARS. Provide Medicare counseling to the public including plan comparison for seniors, and other programs relevant to Medicare and any ancillary issues. Screen for eligibility and enroll Medicare beneficiaries in Low Income Subsidy (LIS), Medicare Savings Program (MSP), Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage Plans. Assist the Coordinator in monitoring the established program goals and objectives to insure completion of all requirements. Assist with special projects and/or outreach events sponsored by Legacy Link or Department of Aging (DAS). Schedule volunteers and trained staff to staff education events and outreach activities. Maintain Legacy Link/Georgia SHIP resources including books, audiovisual materials, equipment and other resources. Other duties as assigned by the Georgia SHIP Coordinator or ADRC Director. Education, Experience and Skill Requirements Knowledge and Experience An Undergraduate degree from a four-year college or university; or the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time experience with at least two years in aging, Medicare, Medicaid, Insurance, Volunteer Coordination, or related fields. Skills Must demonstrate knowledge and experience with human services programs. Must demonstrate knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, long-term care insurance, fraud and abuse. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Office 365) or comparable skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong public speaking and presentation skills Excellent engaging interview skills, particularly with the aged, disabled and minorities Good organizational skills with the ability to adhere to deadlines Good interpersonal skills with the ability to develop community partnerships, staff and volunteers Ability to follow instructions and to work independently. The noise level in the environment is moderate as phone conversations with the hard of hearing occur daily. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing.
