Summary: The Access Lead Representative plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily functions of Emergency Department Access Representatives, stepping in during the absence of the Patient Access Supervisor. This position involves registering patients in both adult and pediatric emergency departments, completing emergency patient registrations, and managing direct admits to the emergency area. Additionally, the role includes collecting patient liabilities upon discharge when appropriate.

Education & Experience:

• One to two years of insurance or clerical experience in a hospital or medical office setting is preferred.
• Medical Terminology certification or knowledge is required within 90 days of employment.
• Familiarity with insurance processes and payment collections is advantageous.

Skills & Requirements:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and basic computer functions is essential.
• Typing and data entry skills must meet departmental productivity standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are necessary.
• Strong customer service skills, especially when interacting with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, are preferred.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking capabilities are required to handle the dynamic needs of patients, families, and visitors.
• Flexibility to rotate shifts and days off as needed.
• Physical requirements include the ability to communicate orally, see, hear, and operate office equipment, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

The work environment involves sitting or standing for extended periods, moderate noise levels, and frequent use of telephones and computers. The role demands dexterity and the ability to manage stress effectively.
