The Section Chief for Hematology/Oncology will provide essential administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership to meet our objectives in clinical care, research, and education within this specialty. Reporting directly to the Chief of Medicine, this role is pivotal in guiding our medical center's clinical initiatives.

• Manage the provision of comprehensive hematology and oncology services, including both outpatient and inpatient care, infusion services, and consultations.
• Lead and inspire the Hematology/Oncology team, promoting a collaborative and innovative atmosphere.

• Provide exceptional, patient-focused care that emphasizes health maintenance, disease prevention, education, and management of hematologic and oncologic conditions.
• Encourage shared decision-making with veterans and their families to optimize health outcomes.

• Develop and enforce policies and procedures to uphold high standards of care within the Hematology/Oncology Section.
• Oversee operational functions, including staffing, budgeting, and resource management.

• Engage in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and projects.
• Employ various quality measurement tools to assess and enhance clinical performance and patient outcomes.

• Support the educational mission by mentoring residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Encourage participation in research to advance the field of hematology and oncology.

• Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to create personalized treatment plans for veterans.
• Ensure coordinated care that encompasses specialty services for comprehensive healthcare delivery.

• Utilize the electronic medical record system for documentation, test ordering, and communication with patients and team members.
