A confidential California-based law firm is seeking an experienced workers' compensation defense attorney to handle a steady pipeline of employer and insurer defense matters. This is a litigation-forward role suited to an attorney who enjoys running files, advising clients, and building a long-term practice within a focused workers' compensation platform.

THE ROLE

• Manage California workers' compensation defense files from intake through resolution

• Draft and argue motions, prepare for and attend hearings, and handle settlement negotiations

• Conduct discovery, including depositions where applicable

• Partner with clients on litigation strategy, exposure analysis, and practical case resolution

• Maintain ownership of deadlines, reporting, and case planning with a focus on efficient outcomes

Hybrid, in office 3 days per week

Compensation:

Base salary range: $145,000 to $220,000

REQUIREMENTS

• 6+ years of substantial California workers' compensation defense experience (open to more senior attorneys, including 10 to 15+ years)

• Active California Bar license in good standing

• Current residence in California

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

• Strong litigation skills, including writing, analysis, and day-to-day case management

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

• Meaningful trial experience in California workers' compensation matters

• Demonstrated experience with deeper case ownership and client-facing responsibility
