Our production capabilities, installation network, and bonding capacity allow Island to complete large-scale, complex projects in a timely, efficient manner./ppJob Summary: As a Payroll Specialist at IEF, you will be accountable for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of multi-state payroll for salaried and hourly employees. This role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local wage and tax laws, maintains payroll records, and serves as a trusted point of contact for payroll-related questions. The position partners closely with the People Operations team, Finance, and external vendors to support payroll operations across multiple jurisdictions./ph3Accountabilities:/h3ulliProcess weekly payroll accurately and on schedule for multi-state employees/liliEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, unemployment, and local tax requirements./liliAdminister payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive pay./liliMaintain accurate payroll records, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions./liliReconcile payroll reports, tax filings, and general ledger entries, partner with Finance on variance resolution./liliCoordinate payroll tax filings, W-2s, and year-end reporting with internal teams and third-party providers./liliManage payroll audits and respond to tax notices, wage verifications, and agency inquiries./liliEnsure compliance with wage and hour laws, including overtime, paid leave programs, and statutory deductions./liliSupport benefits deductions, 401(k) contributions, and coordination with benefits administrators./liliMaintain confidentiality and data integrity of all payroll and employee information./liliIdentify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and documentation./li/ulh3Authorities:/h3ulliProcess payroll transactions and adjustments within approved policies and established controls./liliCommunicate directly with payroll vendors, tax agencies, and benefits providers regarding routine matters./liliMay resolve routine payroll discrepancies independently; escalates complex compliance or legal issues appropriately./liliProvides guidance to managers and employees on payroll procedures, timelines, and standard policies./liliParticipates in payroll system updates, testing, and process improvements./li/ulpMinimum Qualifications:/pp Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field or combination of education and experience /pp 3 + years experience in payroll./pp Demonstrated experience processing multi-state payroll, with strong working knowledge of NY and CT requirements./pp Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and wage and hour regulations./pp Experience with registering with state agency portals and employer registration in various states/ppSalary Range: $75,000 $80,000/ppLocation: East Hartford, CT/ppSchedule: Monday Friday 8:00am 5:00pm - Hybrid/ppBenefits: 401(k) matching, ADD insurance, Dental insurance, Family leave, Flexible schedule, Flexible spending account Gym membership, Health insurance, Health savings account, Life insurance, Paid time off, Parental leave, Professional development assistance, Vision insurance./ppADA Requirements: The position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while using a computer, along with sufficient manual dexterity to operate computers, mobile devices, and related IT equipment.
